I've examined my HP EliteBook 840 G8. Powering it down stops Windows but the machine remains active, which is confirmed by the lights staying on. It gets hot and drains battery while partially running, but fans only activate at a high temperature. I attempted to shut it via CMD, held Shift before clicking shutdown, and even used Fast Boot from BIOS. A fresh Windows update helped, along with replacing RAM sticks. UEFI diagnostics showed no problems. The only unresolved step is updating the BIOS—no guidance available. I tried the update in the BIOS menu but encountered a network error. As shown in the video, I can't reboot to Windows unless I completely power it off first. Any suggestions or help with the BIOS update are welcome.
