Hello, welcome to the forum. I’m having some trouble with my Lenovo Legion from 2021. It has a 4800h processor and an 1660 Ti chipset. I mainly play games like Valorant and DayZ, especially with high settings. Valor runs smoothly and DayZ hits around 80 FPS. I use hybrid mode, which works well for my needs between work and gaming. Last week, during a Valor session, the game would freeze briefly and FPS would drop to about 40 or lower. Now in DayZ I’m getting around 60 or less. Also, my CPU temperature dropped from about 3200-3300 to around 3000. This is confusing because I’m new to gaming and don’t know what’s causing it or how to fix it. Any suggestions would be great.

What amount of RAM is needed? Also, what storage capacity is required and what type—SSD or HDD?

Consider trying this program—it will show you what’s hindering your speed. Your laptop is experiencing HDD slowness, so formatting it with Samsung tools and reinstalling Windows should help. I’ve upgraded to a new PC, and after that setup, the old laptop will run better. You can view my performance report here: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/60657762

Try the program the other person tried first, but you'll need at least 16GB of RAM instead of 8. For your storage space, is it full or nearing capacity? That might cause a problem. You might need more space or remove some files.

He ran the test twice using the iGPU, while this one used a dedicated GPU. The only noticeable issue was storage space, though I’m not running low and the SSD is solid. This metric didn’t match my actual in-game experience, which was reassuring. It’s useful for planning upgrades. I’ll check storage and RAM next.

Have you reviewed background activity (noticing which apps are running in the background) by examining over time windows and other programs? This often involves just opening Task Manager (ctrl + shift + esc) to identify processes consuming your CPU when nothing else is active.
