She had a Lenovo T410 she wanted to format. Everything went well until it asked where I wanted to install it. I chose the primary partition thinking it would preserve other files. After selecting it, the laptop shut down and didn’t power back on. When I tried to turn it on, it only booted for a short time and then cut off completely, leaving no access to BIOS or the boot menu. I realize I made a mistake, but I’m unsure how to fix it. Also, the files weren’t crucial, so I just wanted a clean install.
Extract the hard drive, connect it as a slave to another system, perform a data backup. Clear the drive, reinstall it on the laptop, and retry. Provide update once complete.
Unfortunately, there isn't another suitable system. Appreciate the assistance!
Without a second system, you have no options for handling the data. I would still take the hard drive, remove the battery, wait five minutes, reinsert the battery, and attempt to boot the system—at least to the BIOS interface (still without the hard drive). If that fails, it indicates a hardware issue somewhere in the laptop.
