I attempted to switch from regular paste to liquid metal in my old Asus U36SG laptop. I had to take the whole device apart, but everything went smoothly—temperatures and fan speeds improved noticeably. Now I’m experiencing issues with battery charging: it works on the charger but won’t charge properly when plugged in. I was careful during the process, but could the liquid metal have affected anything near the CPU? No smoke came out after turning it on, so far so good. Please share the motherboard images if they can help clarify.
Battery resumed charging once SOC fell under 95% and reached full capacity. Possibly the issue stemmed from a bios reset during CMOS battery removal while disassembling.
