I'm new to forums and apologize if my notes aren't clear. This issue has been ongoing for a few days. My laptop's display goes black when it's connected to power. Several issues followed. On the first day, it shut down abruptly while playing. The charger was plugged into an extension cord with various devices. After restarting, my frame rate dropped drastically—from 60 to just 15 fps. I suspect the GPU changed to IGPU. After reinstalling drivers, it worked again at 60 fps. Later, during gaming, the laptop cut off and emitted smoke. I discovered two burnt capacitors inside. At this point, when the laptop runs demanding tasks like 3D rendering or gaming, it automatically switches to battery mode. I opted for IGPU mode since I needed it for Blender. I plan to take it to a repair shop because my warranty is expired. Unfortunately, just yesterday my laptop wouldn't turn on at all when plugged in. It worked fine with the battery inside, but once the charger was inserted, the screen went dark. The technician said it might be a faulty GPU and couldn't fix it. He tried changing the laptop to IGPU in BIOS, but problems persisted. I’m really unsure what to do now, having already spent 100 AUD on the repairman, who told me it’s not repairable. My machine is a custom build from Aftershock Vapor 15x 2070 Super. It was purchased in Melbourne, Australia.
The appearance of magic smoke indicates a problem with the motherboard, and it's usually a warning sign when the computer begins emitting smoke. Opened the motherboard, found no signs of burning except the images in the picture. I attempted to link the laptop to an external monitor, but it didn’t work. When the laptop screen goes dark, the external display also loses the signal. I switched the settings to both the integrated and dedicated GPU.
