I received a new laptop with 16GB of RAM. Since it's my first time using Windows 11, I expect this to be the main issue. However, the machine consumes more than 7GB when idle, and it slows down significantly when anything is turned on. This is frustrating for a $2500 device. I performed a clean installation of Windows because I don’t trust ASUS or other companies to not overcomplicate things, so I’m unsure if another program is the culprit. The worst part was being told to check what processes are using the most resources—especially since Adobe was consuming around 200KB. I’m wondering if there’s something missing, like a misconfiguration or an unexpected background process. My laptop has a G713PI with a 7945HX chipset and DDR5 memory, so I’m checking if that’s the problem.

The figure appears to be much lower than expected—200 MB seems far too small. Could the actual size be around 200 GB? Please share some images from Task Manager’s details or Resource Monitor, sorted by memory usage, for a clearer picture. 16 GB is considered basic in 2024.

this shows 97% utilization out of 16gb, which is fine when programs are running. you can reduce around 7gb of usage and still have my idle available, making it a bit confusing where the memory is actually stored.

Task Manager doesn't display all details, like memory allocated for the iGPU. You won't see usage from virtual machines, drivers, or disk caches. In the Performance view, clicking memory should show iGPU usage as "hardware reserved." A button to open Resource Monitor will provide a more comprehensive breakdown.

Relies on available memory for the iGPU. Given the presence of a separate discrete GPU, it seems unlikely the system is heavily optimized. It might be safe to verify the BIOS settings or check the "Hardware Reserved" section in Task Manager.

When you open Task Manager and select the iGPU, it displays the amount of dedicated or shared RAM being utilized.
