Your Acer laptop works fine when using Chrome but becomes sluggish during charging. The cracked exterior of the power brick might be contributing to the issue.

Verify the readings. Temperatures typically rise after connecting devices. Install HWMonitor to see if the CPU is reducing performance due to heat.

Hello, it appears the charger might be the source of the issue. Here’s a solution: power off your laptop. Disconnect or unplug the charger from the cable, any connected devices, and other cables. Close the laptop and flip it upside down. At the bottom, you’ll see a small pin hole, often marked with a battery symbol like a plus and minus sign. Insert the pin into the hole for about 30 seconds, then remove it. Flip the laptop back over. Reconnect the charger cable, restart the computer.

For laptops with built-in batteries, locate the reset hole on the back. If you can’t find one, the battery may be removable—no need to unscrew anything. Power off again, disconnect all cables, and close the laptop. Turn it upside down once more. On the bottom (or top depending on orientation), check for a large door labeled “battery.” Below that, there’s usually a latch. Move the latch to release the battery compartment. Once removed, flip the laptop over. Open the cover, press the power button for a minute, then reinsert the battery. Connect the charger and power it on.

If you don’t see a pin hole or can’t remove the battery, wait 15–30 minutes before plugging in. Give the system time to reset itself. If everything works after this, the charger is likely the cause of sluggish performance.

In HWInfo64 the processor isn't throttling and is running below 60°C. It's unclear how resets affect your BIOS settings or storage cleanup, so stay cautious. Be mindful of any changes that might occur. This should help resolve your problem without risking data loss. Thank you.

Sure, I gave it a shot, but it didn’t solve the issue. Appreciate the effort!

Verify your power configuration. Adjustments can occur if the device remains connected. CPU reduces performance or GPU halts operation. There might be an issue somewhere.

This was my initial reaction. It’s optimized for maximum performance once connected.

When connected, all switches operate based on the maximum setting they can detect. Also, the device avoids these speed problems even after being fully charged and running while powered on.

I've also observed an unusual pattern: when connected, the CPU stays below 400 MHz, but after unplugging it quickly jumps to around 3900MHz, while maintaining an average of 1000-1500 MHz. How can I resolve this? And yes, I’ve confirmed the maximum processor usage is at 100% when plugged in.
