I understand you're trying to duplicate a layer without copying it into another group. I searched for alternatives, but nothing matches what you're looking for. The site you found suggested using Ctrl+Shift+C, which doesn't work for you. You're frustrated because your current software restricts this action.

too much groups to do that, hectic to drag all the way up and even needs to scroll up as i have so many groups, i just want an efficient way to copy a layer and just paste it in a different group.
