Hi there,
I’ve been using my Razer Cynosa Chroma Keyboard for about five years now. Until recently everything worked fine. Now it’s acting up—when I press certain keys, two letters appear at once, always next to the key. For instance, pressing B shows "VB" but pressing V only gives "V". The same happens with the G key (GH). It seems like a software or driver issue rather than a hardware problem. Should I consider replacing it? Thanks for your advice!

Check the keycap gently for any slight cuts that might be pressing it down. This could indicate a mechanical keyboard.

It seems the PCB or hardware on your keyboard is malfunctioning. You'll need to wipe down the PCB and the rubber/membrane switch using alcohol.

Use a dead membrane. Swap the keyboard.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the problem.

No, you can't rework the membrane or solder it again in that way.

You could attempt to disassemble it to check for any repairable damage. However, with a rubber dome keyboard, fixing the membrane seems unlikely if it's the root problem. The diagram below illustrates their typical design: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_t...ploded.svg. It appears all traces belong to a three-layer membrane, so you’d need to locate the faulty trace, separate the membrane, and try reconnecting it. Soldering probably won’t help, as the material likely can’t withstand heat. Conductive ink could work if you reach the spot. Another option is to purchase a refurbished board with a reliable membrane (same type) and use it instead.

Discussing fixing a rubber dome or membrane keyboard? People often think they’re durable, but they’re actually prone to failure. Just discard them properly—don’t just throw them away.
