Her grandma's computer won't start Windows even though she can turn it on and log in normally. After logging in, the screen goes black. She ran some checks and everything looked okay. She didn't install, remove, or modify any software. She took the PC down for a day and now it shows up as a black screen when she tries to log in again.

If the SATA cable isn't working, mist the SATA ports on the motherboard and apply a strong 99% IPA to clear any debris. Allow it to dry for about an hour or two.
