Hello,
My computer is experiencing this issue. I wasn’t home when it happened, but I heard there was a power outage while my PC was running...
Now it’s struggling to start. I have to keep pressing the power button over and over. Only the fan in the middle of the top case turns on and stops, then it finally powers up...
It looks like the PSU might be the problem. I noticed something odd when I took out the video card—its fan started working normally, but the other fans (CPU and main PC fans) didn’t turn on, except for the one in the video... and even then, the PC didn’t start. Anyone have any suggestions?
When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it's standard to provide complete system specifications. List them as follows:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
Include the PSU age along with its make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.
If you think your PSU is the problem, consider obtaining a more powerful, reliable PSU from a trusted source to support your system. If the system starts up without issues using the new PSU, then the original PSU was likely the cause.
CPU: 10700K
CPU Cooler: Noctua D15
Motherboard: MPG Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi
RAM Team Group T-Force Dark Za 32gb (2x16) DDR4 3600Mhz
GPU: RX580 2048SP
PSU: XPG Core Reactor 720W 80 Plus Gold Modular
Chassis: Cooler Master H500P Mesh
OS: Windows 10
Monitor: Alienware 24'
PSU Age: Purchased in 2020, next month will be 5 years.
My computer begins if I press the power button briefly, then lights up, and after the first light the second one starts. Now it doesn't start again, check the video below showing the power button action. I've already taken out both RAM sticks and tested them one by one, removed the GPU—what do you think? From my first message, pressing the power button alone doesn't start it, but holding it makes the first light appear then after powering on... But today, when I hold the power button, there seems to be no strong force to start it, suggesting a PSU problem?
What power supply unit do you have? There aren't any 720W models in the Adata XPG range, so it must be something else.
Capture an image of the PSU label showing the wattage and amperage, then upload it to a platform like Imgur (e.g., www.imgur.com) and share here.
Also, did you purchase this PSU new, or is it used/refurbished?
It seems the components are likely dead—CPU, motherboard, RAM, or possibly the PSU itself.
Take out your RX 580, connect the monitor to the motherboard, and check if the system powers up.
