The issue with Microsoft Edge Game Assist is causing frequent Windows errors.
Recently I don’t feel the need to deal with this, but let’s explore what we can find out about this issue and how to fix the problems I’m experiencing with Edge Game Assist.exe. First of all, I didn’t intend for this software to be installed on my Windows 11, yet somehow it keeps appearing even after uninstallation and still triggers errors without any user action on this computer. Second, why does this app behave differently on my gaming PC compared to my office PC? Third, why should a gamer care about this, especially since I’m currently looking into it? If they had told me to use it, would it function properly and could it possibly be related to the game bar feature?
The feature is integrated within Edge. For additional details, refer to the provided link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/a...o-...dge-surf-g
EdgeGameAssist.exe appears to be reinstalled automatically by the system without user or administrator consent in Windows 11 applications. When playing regular PC games outside of the Edge browser, it triggers a window error related to the EdgeGameAssist.exe application.
Have you checked for malware? Also, did you execute DISM and SFC to assess your Windows system's condition? It appears, based on the previous guidance, the reinstall process is anticipated. Researching this issue supports that pattern. Is Edge your primary web browser?
Windows appears to be in decent shape aside from this problem, so I'll run the checks just to be safe.
Only use EDGE browser. Now what are those commands again:
Admin console, something like this:
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Is that right?
I'm not using the internet much, so a browser change wouldn't be necessary. I still see the error even when using my Edge browser, and then the uninstalled Edgegameassist.exe just restarts itself. It seems I can't remove it completely without changing anything. This time I tried using the repair option in the apps list, but I'm not sure if those settings actually help.
There might be a way to disable the app, as it seems related to Gamebar and its widgets can be turned on or off with toggle switches when the gamebar is open. Still, it feels like this is being forced on users, and it's even more intrusive if people are made aware of these apps by creating window errors to draw attention to them.
Don't damage Windows or cause errors that increase app usage! Or should we start referring to our operating system, Microsoft Apps platform, as widgets instead of Windows?
