Hi guys, thanks for checking out. I have a Strix 970 OC edition. Previously, I adjusted the GPU and memory clock, along with the fans at around 70%, without changing the power or voltage settings. For a few weeks, everything worked fine, but now I encounter random black screens and crashes, requiring a hard reset. This seems related to an incorrect OC configuration. Running it at stock levels didn’t cause any issues so far. My PC specs are: i5 4440, 2x4 RAM 1600, HyperX 4K, ASUS Z87 M Plus, PSU 700W Coolermaster, SSD 120 KGSTOR V300. Also, one more thing—if I push the voltages and power to their limits, the GTX would only use what it needs, so it should be safe? Thanks for reading!
it performed well in all stock configurations, except the fans, and remained stable when underclocked. it also stayed stable with some modifications for six hours. however, it's unclear whether the card itself might be faulty. thank you for your response.
If you OC too much that could happen. I recommend you test your OC 24 hours straight.
If your card works fine at stock (24 hours test), it is not faulty.
I wouldn't really be sure since the OC was at 80%, but the power and voltages were stock. Could either of these issues have caused a black screen crash? I'm planning to test the card at stock for many hours straight, as I did yesterday with 3 hpurs and it worked fine. There are several problems with the GTX and the black screen (especially with Evga), but my experience was normal until Witcher 3 or GTA V. Thanks again.
