Hi, I have an AMD 7970 with an i5 4690K processor, 8GB RAM, an 8GB WD Green 120GB SSD, and a Samsung 850 Evo SATA SSD. Right now I’m streaming GTA V at 1440p using OBS, but I notice a huge lag. I’m not very technical—what changes should I make to improve performance?

Running at 1440p on a 7970 is quite demanding, especially when recording too. It might be better to upgrade to a stronger GPU like the 980/ti, or lower the resolution to 1080p for smoother performance.

It would be better, though I’d prefer around 980 if you’re focused on recording or playing at 1080p simultaneously.

You're experiencing sluggish performance with your HDD for recording. A WD Black or comparable drive would significantly improve speed. The system runs at 5400rpm.

What encoder are you employing? x264 indicates the CPU might be the issue.
