The Hot Spot temperature is significant because it reflects GPU temperature beyond just the GPU itself. If it's 15-20°C higher or more, it might signal an overheating problem.

GPU hot spot reached 86, maximum 88°C, indicating it is not significantly hotter than the 80°C observed on the GPU chip.

Does the 9700K system match the GPU driver version of the 7800x3d? If not, consider using 566.36, one of the final driver updates from 2024, which includes the 3080 ti in the 7800x3d setup.

That was one of the initial points I mentioned—I tried studio drivers too. The Intel build comes with the newest components: GPU drivers, motherboard bios ver, XMP settings, and all the most recent hardware drivers. For the new AMD build, I first updated everything to the latest versions before reverting some GPU drivers back to older studio versions and 566.36 after watching a Gamers Nexus video that said it was stable.

Well, that’s on me for not catching that when I went through everything.
😆
You’ve probably thought about boosting power limits, but that’s unusual if the driver is failing. Have you considered cutting the power limit down to under 100%, maybe even 90% or less? See how adjusting it in small steps over five percentages affects whether the games and driver stay stable.
The 9700K model consumes less power compared to the 7800x3d version, though the PSU might still be at risk of instability.
Another approach could be sticking with the default RAM settings the motherboard sets before turning on EXPO, which is likely around 4800MT/s.
Power problems usually lead to a complete system freeze or crash, similar to unstable RAM or defective RAM, so it’s possible these suggestions won’t help.

No worries, I’ll use the default RAM speeds upon returning home. If that resolves the issue, it suggests either the RAM kit is unsuitable or the speeds aren’t compatible. They’re teamgroup t-create 32gb 6000 CL30, which have strong online reviews.

It is experiencing crashes on both PCIe 3.0 and PCIe 4.0 versions.

Adjust your power limit to 75% or 80% and observe the results. It's likely the updated system could let your card access unstable clocks. If nothing changes, it probably points to the platform rather than the card itself.
