OK so a bit of a backstory here cause it's kinda important. Skip to the [HERE] if you are not interested. So due to issues i changed my isp. The old one provided me with a modem and a router. The router was a good one and since the new isp don't provide you with routers i thought i would just use my old one. So when the guy arrived he said that "The other isp's usually put a 'lock' on their router so you can't use them with other isp's, i can get it open for 500 bucks if you want" (around 7 dollars). I never heard about it before, and its the modem thats made according to the isp right? The router is a third party device so i was really skeptical, but at that point i was too desperate for a connection since the previous one was literal **** and we don't have much option at my place. So i paid up and that guy left and said he'll be back in few hours and will setup the cable then. Later he calls me up and said that they are not able to break the 'lock' and he will keep the router and try again later and for the time give me another router. So later that day they came and setup the wire and stuff, and gave me a router. It was the same one as mine, the only difference being that it was single antenna and was like 200 bucks cheaper. Same brand and stuff. Now that looked fishy to me. Even more things weird things happened when he called me a few days later and said "Sir even if the lock breaks and the router works, the company would be increasing the plan speeds from 50-75-100 mbps to 100-200-300 something mbps at the same price. When that happens your router won't be able to keep up, so i suggest you buy a new router anyways" Now this felt wrong because if that was the case i would have just waited a day and bought a new router myself. So i called him and said well give me back my router and i'll order a new one. He said that let me know when you receive it and i'll send the old one right away. Now my dad wanted to test the old router and make sure that it doesn't work since by this point we have contacted the isp alot of times and they admitted that their staff never takes the old router or claim to know about any lock. Now fast forward to yesterday and i got my router back finally after a month. [HERE] The guy took his router and i plugged in mine. The router didn't work. I entered the default gateway and stuff went to setup chose pppoe and entered my id and password and my provider name. Didn't work. called the isp 4 times yesterday they made me do all the stuff (mostly f***ing restarting the router,plug/unplug the cable/restart pc etc.) nothing worked. So i was like fk it and I ordered a new router from amazon. Later tho when i connected the wan cable of the isp directly to my laptop and went to dialup and then choose pppoe and entered id pass it showed error, i saved it anyways and then edited it and added the isp name and viola the net worked on the laptop. But still no luck from the router. The new router arrived a few hours ago. I plug in the wan cable to the internet port and the lan from my router to the pc. The lan port on the motherboard on the io light up. I went to setup chose pppoe and it says "Cable not connected". I made sure it was plugged in all the way but still no response. Then i plugged the wan cable into the old router and then i saw the internet light wasn't blinking on it either. I thought the internet was down maybe so i connected the wan cable the laptop and the lights starting flashing??? and the net was working. I then connected the wan cable directly to my pc but no light there. So my pc and both the routers are not detecting the wan cable. The ethernet port light lits up when i connected the ethernet cable from my router to my pc, even when it does have internet or not. But the wan cable just doesn't work. What is the issue here? The wan cable fits clicks and sits. Is it a physical compatibility problem? How does my laptop work of it? Please help

You might have a faulty cable, your connections could be off on the PC, there may be a misconfiguration somewhere, or you might need to recheck each setting carefully. Try updating the drivers and take a moment to relax with a beer.
