I'm trying to get my new PC connected to my internet using an ethernet cable, but it just isn't working. The lights right next to the port are on and the cable seems fine. When I turn the PC on, the network tries to find something for a split second, then stops completely. Even after installing the official Realtek driver from Microsoft's site, the program says "The Realtek Network Controller was not found" and even mentions Deep Sleep Mode if it were plugged in, which is confusing because it shouldn't be. The error message says setup failed, but when I check Device Manager later on, there are still lots of fake network drivers listed, and even after a reboot, the computer shows up with a Realtek GBE controller but nothing actually works. Can anyone help me figure out why?

Have you loaded the driver for your chipset? If you don't, that LAN card won't show up on your screen.
