About a year ago I set up Ubuntu on my HP Pavilion X360 after a big mistake—locking the laptop without a key. It worked for a while, but now I’m facing serious Wi-Fi problems at school. When I try to reinstall Windows, I reach the drive selection and nothing appears. Yet when installing Ubuntu, the drive is always there. I’ve even tried installing Windows on the same drive as my main PC, but it still shows a no drive error. Could this be the locking issue or something else? I’m sure the drive isn’t damaged since I booted from another computer yesterday.

Bitlocker only secures the storage, it doesn’t render the drive inaccessible. After installing Ubuntu on top, any remnants from Windows should be gone. It blocks access to data without the correct decryption key but doesn’t stop you from overwriting it. If you start from a USB created with Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool and boot it, no drive appears?

Yes, doing it and installing Windows on a different PC also prevents it from showing up.

The problem likely stems from the Windows installer missing required disk drivers. When the "We couldn't find any drives" alert appears, click "Load driver" and locate the appropriate ones—preferably a USB stick beforehand. Refer to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/is...4859823-16

I checked the available options, and it appears the driver installer only supports .exe files. There isn’t another specific format required at the moment.

Usually these files are in .inf format. Have you attempted to pull it out, as the steps recommend? Certain .exe files act like self-contained archives. You might want to use tools such as 7z or unrar on Ubuntu to extract them.
