According to the site, you can include the repository in APT. The issue indicates that the mame-data package isn't found. It appears the mame-data package is listed on the SDLMAME website.

It's guiding you on what's required. Begin by downloading the installer for Mame-data. Make sure all dependencies are met before proceeding. You might encounter requests for additional items during installation—this is normal. After everything is set up, Mame can be installed smoothly.

Mame can be found in the standard Ubuntu repositories at the provided link. You might be getting it from a PPA because the package manager doesn’t handle those dependencies automatically when you install from a PPA instead of the official source.

He keeps doing this repeatedly, adding software on Linux as if it were Windows. Recently he used the package manager that came with his distribution. If something isn't available, he searches for Flatpak or Snap. After trying those options, he downloads from a PPA or Debian source tarball.
