During the installation of Pop OS on my laptop, it became unresponsive around 11% and has been stuck for nearly an hour. The mouse won’t move, and the entire system is frozen. I’m not sure what to do—my machine runs Windows 10, and I’m trying to decide whether to wait a bit longer or power off the laptop completely. If I shut it down, I worry the hard drive could get corrupted.
If you cannot move the mouse your system is hard crashed, you have no other option than reset. FYI the chances of the drive getting corrupted by this are almost zero, write back caching ensures nothing like that can happen. The absolute worst case is your Linux partition is corrupted and even that's very unlikely.
The installation kept failing at the same percentage, pulling only 11% of the files. It seems the ISO file might be damaged.
Thanks, I'll attempt to reinstall it first. It seems the ISO wasn't corrupted; I used balenaEtcher and it worked properly, but my laptop crashed afterward—so it might be the ISO or the flash drive.
Consider various operating systems for your desktop and laptop. Some users prefer specific distributions, while others face issues running dual booting Windows 10.
