I’m just starting out with the home lab setup. I got a Proliant DL360p G8 server and wanted to run Proxmox. Since I don’t have a VGA cable around, I connected via iLO using the THML5 Console—no luck finding one in my house. The installation took a while, only responding slowly when I typed keys. Once everything started up, I opened the local IP web interface but realized that even after entering the password, the system seemed unresponsive. Now I’m stuck trying to reinstall Proxmox, and it looks like I can’t do that at all. Every time I boot from USB or the virtual CD, it just shows Proxmox and asks for the password again. I’m wondering how to actually reinstall it? My thought is to switch to something like TrueNAS that clears the drives first, then install Proxmox on top?

Power on a running Linux distribution without installing anything. Clear all partitions from the connected drives.

If lag occurs, connect via Windows terminal in PowerShell to SSH into the live Linux system.

Give it a try. If I couldn't locate my VGA cable, it would be frustrating.
