I wonder why, given all I've been doing, my processor hasn't exceeded 65 cpu units, but when I push it with CPUZ it reaches 90 on one core while the others hover in the low 80s.

Stress testing temperatures usually represents the extreme situation, helping ensure that regular operations won't be affected by such high levels—it provides a realistic view of potential heat conditions.

in regular use i'm typically between 55 and 65, but for gaming streaming, downloading, and video editing i rarely reach 100%—actually i seldom hit even 50%.

Merged version:
The question from Blkacr asks about the high temperatures observed during stress testing, noting that the system runs smoothly under load but shows elevated temps only under stress conditions.

It seems likely everything will be okay. Most folks just treat it as a bit of extra protection, like assuming the peak it reaches during IBT or similar will stay within safe limits, so it should handle regular use well.

You might notice temperatures rise during benchmarking when they perform a physics test. This could also happen in a racing sim, but GPUs handle most of the processing now.
I usually use Prime 95 3 exams instead of 4. It performs well across all four cores and has never struggled with benchmarking tasks.
Of course, I'm still using quite outdated hardware!

Yeah, I'm using my second GPU, so I shouldn't have to worry about the CPU getting busy.

So just a brief update. My voltage was completely off, which caused my high heat. I really took some time this weekend to fix it. Originally I was at 4.4 with a 1.275 setting. The stress test showed me in the upper 80s to low 90s, which really bothered me. I managed to reach 4.4 at a max temperature of 80/81 under normal load, but the highest I've seen recorded was 57. It seems the H80i cooler is reaching its limit. I might consider switching to a better cooler or going full water-cooled system. For now, I'm quite satisfied with what I have and passed the stress test. I was at 4.6 adjusting voltages, but if it works, I'd expect back into the upper 80s. I ended up settling for 4.4 at 1.150 to keep temperatures under 85, which feels safer. Thanks again to everyone who helped.
