organizing your fans makes a big difference, and adjusting airflow under certain models really helped with my 2010 laptop. My daughter’s Dell did the same, but it was limited to around 800MHz. I started this just to check PROCHOT, and it worked—then I turned it back up to 800MHz again only when the battery was full and the charger was plugged in. Using the charger without it connected let me run at full speed (around 2.1GHz), while the charger with it kept me stable. When I unplugged the charger, it used less power and ran fine normally. If anyone knows why this happens, please let me know. I also looked into Windows power plans, but found no issues there. I had a similar problem on a Thinkpad, but it was because of a power-saving mode that kept fans low and chassis temps too low—especially when the laptop was docked in an office with multiple VMs using power. I haven’t found any specific Windows or Dell settings for this issue.
