I purchased this for a budget lot. A significantly worse i7 7700k in history.
It’s currently the least optimal processor I’ve ever overclocked.
I’m experimenting with AVX (1), Vcore control at 1.10/1.15/1.20/1.25, LCL: 1.
CPU voltage range: 1.25-1.4v
Cache ratio: 42x
Ratio: 46-50x
Software: Prime95, latest version
H105 with push-pull
Artic MX4
Temperatures:
Max 75°C at PL 1.10
Max 85°C at PL 1.15
Max 95°C at PL 1.20
Max 100°C at PL 1.25
Memory clock already down to 3300 to 3000MHz
Asrock Z270 Extreme4, last BIOS update
All configurations cause Prime95 to freeze!
My highest stable speed was 30 minutes at 4.5GHz (AVX 1) = 4.4GHz in 1.3V Prime95 (no longer tested beyond 30 min).
Using default BIOS settings, the processor freezes in Prime95. What’s going on? Should I consider an RMA with Intel?

After persistent effort over days or weeks, I achieved a stable overclock. The main issue seemed to be the LLC (LoadLine Calibration) setting; using the highest value (1) caused instability.

The rest operates automatically.
Tested with Prime95 v28.10, reaching a max temperature of 87ºC without overheating. Voltage in Prime: 1,344v; Core clock in Prime: 4.7ghz.
