I share the same issue with my CPU. It runs smoothly at 4.8GHz with 1.35V but stalls at 4.9GHz. Even lower voltages like 1.45V didn’t help. Sometimes you hit that ceiling and can’t exceed it.

In the bios 2V setting, the CPU input voltage (Vccin) remains at a lower level, then reduces to the core voltage within the processor.

e5-1660 v3 measures 5960x and is being offered at 175 on eBay. Look for a J serial number. The 5820k is trading around 100 on eBay, making it an affordable upgrade option.

4.4ghz was the highest speed I managed with my 5820k, though it wasn’t very reliable, so I lowered it to 4.3. That setting remained unchanged for about three years until I recently upgraded to a new machine.

I recall the voltage setting you mentioned. You've successfully reduced it to 1.16V, achieving stability at 4.2 GHz. The temperatures stay below 62°C, and the system runs quietly.

Sorry I cant remember I set it up up a few years back and never really went back to it again haha now its sat in bits waiting for me to turn it into something else other than a gaming pc.
