I have a PC equipped with an i7 4770K on a Z-series motherboard. It suddenly stopped functioning, displaying only a blank screen. Initially, I thought the problem was with the motherboard, so I borrowed one from a friend—another Z-series that worked. Then I got another from another friend, a B-series, which functioned properly. I lent the CPU to my friend, and after a week it failed again. After purchasing a cheap H-series board, the CPU worked fine there. It's been a month since then. I've tried the CPU on both Z and B series again, but it still doesn't work. The H-series seems to be the solution so far. What could be the issue with my CPU?

It seems the device isn't functioning properly on the H series model.

Your motherboard model is Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H. The missing Z and B details aren't specified. The H series only works with H series models; the H81M-DS2 is compatible.

I’d attempt to update the older F4 firmware from Gigabyte’s site: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-...rt-dl-bios. If you’re still using the current F4 version, visit the latest release. Access your existing CPU’s BIOS settings and switch to the BIOS menu. If that’s not possible, you may need another CPU. A nearby computer store could assist if they’re open. As usual, focus on narrowing down the problem by testing different components.
