I have a Dell OptiPlex 9010 with an i7 3770, MSI GeForce GT 1030 and 16GB of 1600MHz RAM. I'm trying to record CSGO, GTA 5 and PUGB. No matter what I do, recording is impossible even when lowering in-game settings and playing at low resolution. I've set the game to 30fps, reduced bitrate and CPU usage, but FPS still drops even when capped at 60. Others say they record 720p at 60fps and it works well. Is my RAM limiting performance or is the CPU the issue? Could it be related to the motherboard? I can run these games smoothly without recording and still experience frame drops in-game. Any suggestions would be helpful, thank you.

I wouldn't mind at all and I get why it's being pushed. But I'm confused about how others are handling this. Can you share your thoughts on the video I mentioned when he said it came from the same PC? He uses the same CPU and slower RAM than me, but he has a 4GB GPU.

He’s using an RX 470, which is significantly superior to your 1030. GPU VRAM doesn’t determine performance entirely. They’re employing the Radeon recording software, which only slightly affects FPS and works on lower-end hardware as long as the GPU can handle it.

It’s significantly improved because the clock speeds are poor, but adding more RAM would make it a much stronger card.

I don't grasp how GPUs function in general. Comparing clock speeds, cores, memory, etc., isn't straightforward—you need to rely on benchmarks. The RX 4700 delivers significantly better performance than the GT 1030 in games that have been tested and confirmed. Why? Because their architectures differ. You can't easily compare two similar cards in the same setup since they have distinct designs. For example, having 50% more GPU cores doesn't guarantee a 20% improvement if the overall design is different. You should review actual tests and benchmarks (real evaluations, not just spec comparisons) to understand the differences.
