The I3 12100 may lack sufficient performance for your needs.
Hello, I recently assembled my PC using an i3 12100 and an ARC A750. My goal was to upgrade, but during research I found the i3 12100 should have provided sufficient performance for the ARC A750 to run smoothly in most games without hitting bottlenecks—mostly true so far. While monitoring, my GPU usage stayed between 40% and 60% in CSGO, Minecraft, and Apex. Interestingly, my CPU usage was consistently lower than the GPU. I’m not experienced with diagnosing bottlenecks, so I’m unsure if something is missing. Since I don’t play intense games, that’s a plus for me as I prefer 1080p at high refresh rates (my monitor supports 165Hz). My aim is to maximize GPU performance without overloading it. I’d like to know if this issue relates to Intel ARC or if upgrading my CPU would help. If you’re interested in my average FPS across those titles, let me know—I can share the numbers. Thanks!
Acknowledge that many games you're talking about will be limited to just one thread on your machine. Your processor has eight threads available. When checking CPU utilization, focus on the "per thread" chart rather than overall usage, since that won't give useful insights. If your data shows: Core 1 - 100% Core 2-3 - 50% Core 4-8 - 10% The one core hitting 100 is the main constraint, but in total CPU load you'd likely see around 30%.
