Hey there, I understand the usual grinding sound from your hard drive during downloads. But lately you're hearing a similar noise on your iPad while your PC is idle. It happens for about one second every six seconds for an hour, then it stops completely. It always follows a precise pattern without any variation. I was just trying to sleep and it really disrupted my rest. The sound isn’t much louder than when downloading, but it feels predictable—like a steady drip. This is the first time it’s happening, and I haven’t changed anything on my PC that seems to trigger it. No updates or downloads were occurring at the moment. It could be something intermittent, maybe related to background processes or network activity. I’m not sure what’s causing it yet, but it’s definitely new.

It seems there was some abrupt movement of the reading head. Was the issue sudden or did you begin operating the PC in a manner that caused it?

Well, I mean I assume it just started. There is ONE difference though. One of my hard drives used to be at an angle (don't ask) and now it's not. However, I'm fairly certain it isn't even that hard drive that's making the noise. I'm not sure if this is ALWAYS the case, but so far from when I've caught it, it only seems to happen when the PC is idling, like when I'm not using it at all.
