The GTX 980 TI is experiencing issues maintaining a stable clock speed of 595 MHZ.
Hello. I'm uncertain if this forum is suitable for such a question, but here goes!.
When I run my Gigabyte g1 980 TI in Heaven benchmark with a slight overclock, it works for about 5 hours before suddenly the core clock drops and locks at 595mhz.
The temperature stays steady at 76 degrees for 5 hours straight.
Stock voltage.
After this, every game or program runs at a maximum of 595mhz until I restart the PC.
Then it happened again in a benchmark, and even after restarting the PC it wasn't enough; I had to turn it off completely and start it again.
I've read a lot about this. There are 10-20 forum posts about the card locking down at 595 or 400 mhz until a restart, but nobody seems to solve these posts.
Is the OC unstable? Is the driver (latest Nvidia) unstable? Does the card do it, or are the drivers responsible?
I've set power management to best performance, but it didn't make a difference.
Also, I'm not running extreme OC settings. The card has an 81% score on Nvidia Inspector.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Typically, slowdown happens because of two main reasons.
1. reaching temperature thresholds
2. insufficient energy supply
What are the remaining details about your system?
Thank you for your reply, but I have already resolved the issue.
An unstable overclock caused the driver and BIOS to crash.
Best regards
