superior compared to what? Also, I heavily modded Minecraft on the integrated graphics on my MacBook. Both of those cards should deliver impressive frame rates. EDIT: oh wow, I understand now. Which one performs better? Likely the R9 285.

Minecraft typically depends more on the CPU than the GPU, but either can handle the task well. The information from matching CPUs and significantly different GPUs usually leads to comparable performance.

You can achieve solid frames using any of those cards. Editing your profile in the launch menu and allocating extra RAM—like 2GB or 3GB—can improve mod performance.
