The graphics card on your friend's laptop is missing.
Recently, my friend's laptop (Lenovo Legion Y530) stopped using its quiet GPU (GTX 1060). At first I thought he might have changed the video device in BIOS to an Intel integrated GPU. But I know the BIOS didn't have that option. We tried reinstalling drivers via GeForce Experience, but it didn't help. We also checked the NVIDIA site, but the GPU still appears in Device Manager as working or shows error 54. I plan to install older drivers for the GPU soon when I get his machine. Also, turning it off and back on didn't resolve the issue.
The laptop supports changing settings via BIOS. Refer to the documentation or use the Lenovo Bios Emulator for details.
I could have overlooked it since I was attempting to read the bios from a phone Discord stream. I'll let you know if that helped!
