I just replaced the motherboard, CPU, and RAM in my PC. After that, I managed to export two projects in After Effects without any problems. But recently, whenever I try to export, it takes about a minute before the GPU shuts down (the fans stop and the screen freezes), and the audio cuts out—giving me a feeling it might be a motherboard issue, though I’m not sure. Here’s what my setup looks like: CPU R9 5900X, GPU RX5500-XT 8GB, MBO B550M DS3H, RAM 2x8GB at 3200Mhz Corsair Vengeance, and a PSU Evga 500BR.

Thank you for your response. Here’s a summary of the steps you took:
- Removed and reinstalled drivers using DDU
- Reinstalled Windows 11
- Disabled XMP on each RAM stick
- Inspected cables on motherboard and GPU
- Reviewed reliability history for error code 1a8 LiveKernelEvent
- Examined the Event Viewer
- Monitored CPU and GPU temperatures and power usage during rendering

Consider executing the furmark GPU stability check. If it keeps restarting, switch to another power supply unit. Over time, a weaker PSU may fail to deliver the necessary wattage for the GPU. It seems like a GPU issue.

You can extend the duration slightly or monitor temperature closely. Let me know if you'd like more guidance.

I believed it could be this, but it seemed stable until recently. I also adjusted the voltage on both the GPU and CPU without success.

Now we need to check if the issue lies with the GPU or the power supply unit. A 500 Watt rating might be insufficient for your system setup. Consider replacing the PSU, swapping the GPU, or testing it in a different configuration.

The estimated power requirement was about 330 watts, though fluctuations might affect the final choice.

A 650 watt setup should work, but it's wise to consider your needs for the future. If you anticipate needing a stronger GPU later, invest in a reliable power supply now that can handle potential upgrades.

You're thinking about upgrading to the 6650 for better energy efficiency, likely aiming for a 650 model. It's worth considering if issues with Adobe software might be linked, especially since you've moved fans from a splitter to a MOLEX directly from the PSU. That change could affect performance or compatibility.

I don't believe it would be the software directly causing this, but rather the requirements that it puts on the hardware. I doubt your change with the fans did anything negative with your build, they don't draw that much power and it sounds that like draw wouldn't have changed. It sounds like when you're rendering it is requiring either too much power from the PSU or there is an issue with the GPU itself, because of how close you were to the 500 watts available with your current PSU I feel that is a good place to start.
