Hey, I recently purchased a GTX 1080 and faced several issues. My monitor would freeze, and when I pressed any button to continue in the game, it would crash. After checking, adjusting the power limit to 70% on my GPU helped things stabilize. Initially, I thought my power supply was faulty, so I replaced it with a new one a few days later. Switching from a 750W gold to a 1000W gold didn’t fix the problem. I’m hoping to run the GPU at full capacity. Others have shared similar experiences but haven’t found reliable solutions. My setup includes a Threadripper 1920x ASRock PH 6 X399 1000W PSU and an Asus 1080 Strix with 32GB RAM.
Really, I had no clue. The seller didn’t have any other cards, so I went with the risk. But nowadays, that’s unlikely.
Unfortunately, the 1080 models are now over six years old, displaying more visible signs of wear. You might consider disassembly or repasting, but I doubt you'll get much out of it.
