Hi everyone. I'm trying to choose between the GIGABYTE B550I AORUS Pro AX and the ASUS ROG Strix B550-I Gaming. The other B550 miniITX models are clearly not an option. Since I'll be using a Streacom F1C WS case, it will be quite tight and tend to get warmer. I'd like a quieter build, so I plan to undervolt the CPU and run it at lower speeds. The setup will mostly stay idle, with occasional 4K FPS gaming. I'll be running Linux, so some software might not work out of the box. Key concerns: 1. Which network chip is currently better or more stable—Intel I225-V or Realtek RTL8125B-CG? Both have reported issues. 2. Do Gigabyte's higher-end VRMs really lead to cooler temps? 3. Is CPU undervolting effective and straightforward on both boards? 4. Should I expect similar fan curve settings? Any tips or advice would be appreciated!
Uncertain about it, but I haven't run into any problems with an Intel network adapter. Depending on the processor and overclocking, both models perform well even with the biggest chips at stock. With proper cooling, it shouldn't be an issue. The fan curve is more of a personal choice; both boards are set to a max temperature of 75°C. I own a B450-I Strix, and it's definitely one of my favorite boards from the past 15-20 years. (personal view)
I explored Intel networking options but Realtek consistently worked for me too. Maybe because I didn't invest enough in boards or laptops, they come with basic networking capabilities. Not really, Asus provides active cooling for VRM here (tiny fans beneath the I/O cover). It's hard to say which one gets hotter. 3. If you're familiar with both BIOS setups, that's fine. Gigabyte can be a bit more challenging to adapt to. 4. It seems like no real distinction, just minor differences on a scale.
