I recently needed to reinstall windows due to a disk check failure that corrupted everything. After updating everything, some games are still crashing (Rainbow 6, The Division, and possibly others). There’s nothing in the event viewer, I’ve already updated drivers. I tried reinstalling windows again (it keeps personal files), turned off overclocking, but it doesn’t work. I used the driver verifier which reported a problem with corsairgamingaudioamd64.sys. More details about the crash are available in the minidump file MSinfo.txt Minidumps.zip

What games are currently in play? What caused the crash? Does the system power down entirely, become unresponsive, or transition to the desktop? Are any error notifications displayed during the failure? Is the issue limited to gaming applications or occurs across other software as well? Do you own a Corsair headset? This might not be your main concern, but if your headset has associated software, reinstalling it could help. (Get the most recent version from the site). After reinstalling everything, did it switch to a new drive or was it using the same failing one?

Usually the game ends quickly with little further action. Apart from occasional issues, everything seems fine. I’m using a Corsair headset and the same hard drive works perfectly—HD Tune ran a check and reported no problems.

The crash notification indicates permission issues during GTA5 startup. The application-specific settings refuse to allow Local Activation for the COM Server with given CLSID and APPID, preventing it from launching on the specified device.

It seems there might be an issue with user permissions. (I’m not certain, but I haven’t seen this before.) The account you use to log into the system/Windows is either set as administrator or another user profile. Are the games saved on a different drive than the operating system? A fresh installation of the games could resolve permission problems, especially if you’ve reinstalled the OS and might not have the necessary access rights. If these are Steam games, you can also use "Verify Game Integrity" to ensure the files are intact. Right-click the game in your list, select Properties, then Local Files, and choose Verify Game Integrity.
