Hey there! Looking for advice on the new AC:O performance. I'm using a GTX 1080TI with an i7-3820 at 4K, and the game gets sluggish at 24,30, and 60fps with VSync. It improves a bit when I enable the in-game adaptive resolution at very high settings, but I still see some screen tearing and occasional drops to 50-55fps. I've heard the DRM might be affecting performance—anyone confirm that or suggest tweaks? Thanks!

I’d first verify if your CPU is causing a bottleneck by reviewing your CPU/GPU utilization and thermal throttling status. I’ll also look for any demanding background applications running. Since I’m using a 1080Ti and experienced frame rate issues, I updated the graphics card drivers to resolve them. Therefore, I’d begin by updating your graphics card drivers.

Thanks! I just installed the CPUID and HW Monitor tools. They’re displaying my CPU usage at 100% during gameplay, which is surprising since I expected it to run cooler. It seems the bottleneck might be there. On Windows 10, I can only see the last minute of activity, but it still hit 100%. My processor is already at 4.2 GHz, up from the original 3.6 GHz. Should I push it further if my temperatures stay around 65°C?

Great title! How about "Fun with Spelling" or "Cool Word Play"?

Your CPU won’t help much here. The DRM in AC:O exceeds what the CPU can manage. It’s frustrating, but the only options are to upgrade your CPU or have Ubisoft turn off the DRM.

Thanks for the response, I believed that was the situation. Time to make an upgrade, I suppose!

I received a 1070 and noticed my CPU stays near 100% on Ultra and Very high settings. I adjusted the settings to Medium, which brought it down to around 95% and stopped the crashes. The game is really rough but still fun.

Interesting. With a 6700k and GTX 1080 at 1440p, I’m only at 60% CPU usage and can run at 60fps without any stutter. I haven’t seen DRM impacting performance much. It probably just depends on my specific setup.

It seems like you're comparing this model to others with similar CPU throttling issues. You feel it's a disappointing move by Ubisoft, suggesting they're trying to discourage torrenting. You mention using Steam for games and buying them at discounts, contrasting it with your past experiences.
