I’ve adjusted the game to almost full ultra settings and still saw around 65-70 fps initially. The next day it dropped to about 58 fps, even with graphics turned down. My system runs an Intel core i5-11400 and RTX 3060, with a resolution of 1920x1080 at 144 hz. I’m unsure why the performance is so low despite having no background processes running. I’ve noticed others achieving over 75 fps on similar hardware, but my results are much lower. The graph I saw suggested an RTX 2080 could hit 76.5 fps under those settings—how can mine be lagging so much?
AC: Odyssey prefers high-frequency processors, so a 5th generation Intel CPU paired with a 1080 Ti/2080 will deliver around 76fps at ultra settings in 1080p. I capture more frames from an overclock than any other AAA title with it. The starting island is relatively light, which isn't a strong sign for performance in the main game but the built-in test confirms that. AC: Odyssey slows down on a hard drive and consumes significant RAM—about 10 gigabytes. I still play it for system evaluations because it uses roughly 100 watts more than most games.
This feels similar to the issue I’m facing still today with AC Valhalla. It works smoothly on my i7 960 and GTX 1080Ti, but after using an i7 7700k and RTX 3090 it slows down significantly below 30fps. The only solution seems to be reinstalling the GPU drivers. I’m trying to test that—see if restoring the drivers helps recover frames, even temporarily.
