After purchasing Far Cry 3 and not playing it for a month due to a busy schedule, I started the game again. It showed constant lag and stuttering every time I moved my character. I tried disabling v-sync but it didn’t help. My system specs are an i5-4460, R7 250X, PowerColor GPU, 12GB RAM (4x8), 1600MHz memory, running Windows 7 64-bit.

I’m unsure if I should defrag my HDD since other games seem to run smoothly, particularly Fallout 4 which is demanding on a PC.
