Hi, I've just started playing CS2 and I'm facing a FPS issue. My setup includes a GTX 970 with 4GB VRAM, 8GB RAM, an i5-750OC 3.4 core. When bots are present, my FPS drops significantly—only around 20 FPS difference even after adjusting settings. But when I play solo, it's much smoother, reaching 150-180 FPS. It happens on PC too; in Wingman I get good performance, but in Competitive mode and Comp I see lower numbers, especially during casual or DM matches. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Consider your options carefully. What steps can you take to address the situation?

The i5 750 needs a replacement. Time to upgrade to a new computer.

Is this the sole option? If so, which processor would perform best for your PC with a 1150 socket?

This i7-4790K isn't compatible with the 1150 socket. It performs poorly in games like CS, often under 60fps. Using the same storage, GPU, case, and PSU makes it a budget option. The listed parts total around $272.96 after fees.

You need a quicker machine, the current hardware can't handle CS2 well. Even the best CPU available wouldn't make much difference. It's wiser to switch to a modern graphics card and CPU.

For a clean beginning and ease of use, consider installing a new M.2 boot drive. 1TB options are available for around $40 to $50. It’s definitely a good investment. You probably still have an older SATA SSD or even a HDD if you’re not using a modern system.

CS2 demands significantly more processing power compared to CS:GO. It also offers additional cores and cache, making CPUs such as 5800X3D or 7800X3D ideal choices. In contrast, older X3D models didn’t utilize extra cache effectively.
