It's quite unusual, using a lengthy ethernet cable for the same purpose, especially since it's only cat 5e and not suitable for outdoor use. It has functioned well for nearly 15 years. Have you considered bypassing the switch and connecting directly to the PC? You might also want to try a different ethernet card or install a PCIe one. Did you secure the cable ends yourself?

I recently transformed my garage into a gaming/man cave space. To achieve network access, I had to run a 30m Cat6 ethernet cable since the Wi-Fi signal was weak. When my PC was inside the house on Wi-Fi, everything worked perfectly—full 1Gb speed and no interruptions even when not playing games. The only change I made was relocating to another room. I understand that moving away from the router worsens connectivity, but I’m unsure about the specific router model. I used an Asus GT-AX11000 and connected other budget Asus routers with Wi-Fi 6 to extend the range using a mesh setup. Your internet provider (COX) might offer solutions for this issue.

did you attempt to connect the pc directly to the router for net, disable wireless on the pc, and check the switch for other ports? also, did it handle the game similarly? make sure you have the most recent driver for your motherboard's net chipset with the operating system.

This device functions as the typical Hub 5 model provided by Virgin Media in the UK, compatible with Wi-Fi 6 standards.

What bothers me most is that the internet works just fine otherwise, but once I start playing games it suddenly becomes unstable. It’s strange compared to regular browsing. I’ve checked everything myself—cables are secure and the connection is solid when not gaming. I haven’t tried changing the switch settings because it’s hard to reach from my PC.

So update. I’m not sure what exactly happened, but I think I’ve fixed it. It could be something like resetting all network adapters, re-seating the cable in the router, or changing the Port settings in the switches manually. I don’t know which one worked, but now my games aren’t disconnecting... (Fingers crossed). Also, I did a continuous ping to my router and Google servers, but nothing came up in those tests.
