My computer was having issues and didn't download updates. After fixing it, a screen problem appeared while I was working on it—probably GPU-related, though I'm not sure. Now these two boxes appear when opening Fortnite in this sequence: once you press OK on the first box, the text below says "thanks in advance."
Unless another person offers a better solution, it seems the time has come to fully reinstall Fortnite. It appears the BattlEye has disabled Fortnite.exe, preventing the game from launching because it blocks its primary executable file.
