Recently, a problem has emerged—it’s been occurring over the last few days—where certain games become completely stuck. These freezes affect various titles unpredictably and haven’t occurred previously. I can switch to another application or open the task manager, but the game remains unresponsive. Furthermore, my computer emits a beep sound each time I click, with the number of beeps corresponding to the number of clicks. My mouse input is also unreliable across my entire system; actions don’t register as intended. The games themselves will not close, and force shutdowns through the task manager are ineffective; a full system restart is consistently necessary.

It’s important to note that this issue began after I recently updated my computer’s central components—specifically, moving from an MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition motherboard, an Intel i7-4770 processor to an Intel Core i7-8700K, and a Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB RAM to a Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB, while maintaining the rest of my hardware. My initial suspicion was that increased heat from the upgrade might be a factor, though temperatures peaked at 50 degrees Celsius, a temperature I’ve experienced before. I utilize a Corsair H60 cooler and have four case fans installed. What might be triggering this unexpected malfunction? I am confident that it is not caused by any malicious software.

Frequently, capacitors fail in power supplies, and even high-end gold models experience a 7-year lifespan—bronze units usually last around 4 to 5 years. Therefore, a faulty capacitor could be the source of the issue.

The power supply unit wasn't specified – I assumed it was irrelevant because I’ve been using the same one for a long time. It's an XFX-TS 550W and I believe it’s adequately powerful for my setup, considering I also have a GTX 1070.
