My laptop is really slow and won’t handle most games well. Since I’ll be away from my main computer for the weekend, I chose to install Half Life 1 and 2 from Steam. They worked fine at first, but I noticed the aspect ratio was off and accidentally changed it completely. Now I’m only 10 minutes in and don’t mind losing data. My main concern is how to erase all saved files. I’ve reinstalled the game several times without success. (More question: How do you remove saved data from a Steam backup?)

In Steam it seems you can simply click the game in your library and choose 'Delete Local Content.' This removes the game from your system and restores all game settings.

I've attempted it three times and consistently received the same outcome.

I pressed uninstall from Steam while browsing File Explorer, but no changes appeared. After removing everything manually via File Explorer, I encountered this message:

Game is functioning properly once more, but I've ended up going in circles. The aspect ratio looks perfect.

the save file is saved in a specific Steam folder. turning off cloud saves means you won’t have automatic backups across devices. deleting it isn’t about fixing an aspect ratio—it’s about removing the backup feature altogether. you should only need to adjust settings via the menu.

I aim to remove everything to restore all settings, but I’m having trouble reaching the options menu since it’s incomplete.
