So I'm playing witcher 3 with my 680 at high settings with a bit of medium. it play's pretty great averaging around 45ish fps. but It crashes -.- would give me an error about my nvidia driver stops working. and sometimes witcher 3 just exits for no reason. Any of you fellas have this problem and found a solution?
Check if MSI Afterburner is active. It might be the cause of your NVIDIA driver issues after the latest update.
Aftermarket applications don't alter the power limits that the onboard BIOS recognizes. It seems similar to the issue I encountered recently. A warning appeared in the Windows event reporter, indicating NV stopped responding before restarting. If this is the cause, it's likely a power delivery problem—this also occurs with AMD cards. The quick fix is to adjust your power settings and disable the power-saving mode for the PCIe lanes (disable link state power management). If that doesn't resolve the issue, consider flashing the firmware with a custom BIOS file to increase the power limit.
You're seeing around 45 fps and struggling to maintain 60 consistently without maxing out your GPU. It might be overheating. Consider lowering the game to 35–40 fps if available, or use Bandicam (even trial) to limit FPS. There are better tools for this if you want.
the card reaches a maximum of about 88 degrees, but Witcher 3 can't confirm it's overheating
This setup is quite powerful. However, a sudden increase in usage might overload the system. I experienced crashes on my GTX 770 when it stayed over 75% for extended periods. Make sure the case allows proper airflow or follow my advice to limit it to around 95%. Experiment and see how it performs [emoji14]
