I'm using a PC with Steam and Windows 11. I notice repeatedly that after a few sessions, files appear missing and are marked for reacquisition. It doesn't seem to affect gameplay much, even though I'm running on a powerful 5800X3D. I'm a bit frustrated by how often this happens lately.

What is your RAM speed? Do you have the curve optimizer installed?

There could be issues if a file is missing, leading to crashes when the game needs data it can't find. Performance impacts seem limited to rare, extreme scenarios not typically anticipated by developers. Are you running a virus scanner that might block files? Have you scanned your disk for errors?

Stellar Blade handles this often, some Sony executables are added and then a few days later it prompts if Steam is "allowed to make changes," eventually deleting the file (into your recycle bin, lol). I don’t know what it is, but it definitely feels like some kind of rootkit (knowing Sony). I’m not saying it’s real, just that it seems strange. Maybe something similar is happening here, and I doubt many people even notice when they “allow Steam to make changes” after all the events of Gaben giveth and gaben taketh...
