The game fails to launch.
Hey there, I just reinstalled Crysis 2 again. After uploading it through Origin, I had to install patch 1.9, which functioned properly. Now whenever I try to launch the game, I keep seeing the error: "Crysis 2 doesn't work anymore." I've already tested running it in compatibility mode on Windows XP and Windows 7, as well as trying it as an administrator, but neither worked. Someone mentioned issues with overclocked NVidia GPUs, so I reset both my cards to default settings, but that didn’t help either. My NVidia drivers are current, and my system specs are i5-4670, 16GB RAM, 2x GTX 980 SLI on ASUS Z97 Sabertooth Mark S AX760i. I hope someone can shed some light on this.
Install it outside the original location? There are issues with C2 because they took away multiplayer. Or Gamespy stopped working, which messed up the MP. Still, some servers remain active thanks to dedicated users who built them without relying on Gamespy.
Crysis 2 support ended – Steam remains an option, but Origin may be permanently gone.
Many games no longer work, yet they should still function. I can play without Origin, but it doesn’t solve the issue. I even got NFS: Underground to run at 3440x1440, so Crysis 2 seems manageable.
Since the support was removed, getting it to function has been quite challenging. You might need to reinstall it several times. Consider making registry adjustments. Perhaps visit the Crysis/cryengine forums or look at the Crysis 3 anti-hack site—those people managed it and even organized a Crysis 2 weekend a while back.
I prefer not to spend too much effort making it work. If it won’t run, I’ll just remove it and reinstall it later. I don’t have reliable internet, so reinstalling isn’t possible.
It functions on Steam because it relies on Steam servers. Origin seems uncertain, and multiplayer isn't available anywhere.
