I've been having trouble getting my arm game to run smoothly for nearly a year now. I'm using a GTX 960 AMD FX 8350 with 16GB RAM, but I'm consistently hitting around 20 FPS regardless of the settings I use—ultra or lower. Any advice would be appreciated.

It's extremely hard to achieve reasonable frame rates in ARMA III due to its lack of optimization. The system only makes minimal use of the hardware. Operator drewski produced a helpful video covering this issue, showing that even at maximum settings, the GPU and CPU frequently ran at around 50% usage, making it impossible to reach 60 fps.

With Skylake components and a small player community (under 30), it's achievable to maintain 45 frames per second consistently. However, this isn't suited for budget systems—at least a 970 processor and the most powerful CPU available are required.
