The game entirely avoids relying on a dedicated GPU.
I play Goat Simulator (32-bit) on my laptop, which has these specifications:
i7 8550u, Nvidia 940mx, 8GB RAM, Windows 10, SSD for booting and games on an HDD.
The game was running poorly (25FPS, Medium). I checked the Task Manager and found it wasn't utilizing my Nvidia GPU at all, with usage at 0%.
I've tried several solutions without success:
- Tried running the game on the Nvidia GPU via Nvidia's control panel
- Adjusted Windows Display settings to use the Nvidia GPU
- Enabled PhysX and then disabled it again
- Reinstalled my Nvidia drivers
It seems the 0% GPU usage only occurred for this game, while others were using it to some degree. I suspect the issue might be with the game itself, though. If it was a problem, why did it run smoothly on my friend's laptop with a 7th gen i7 and Nvidia 920m?
I'm struggling to figure this out and would really appreciate any advice.
Where did you obtain Goat Simulator?
Maybe the present version is damaged.
Uninstall or remove it.
Download and install it yourself through the relevant manufacturer's site.
Handle the setup carefully for your system and attempt once more.
Notify them as needed.
I believe reinstalling the game fixed the issue. It is now working on the Nvidia GPU, as shown in the task manager and Nvidia reports. However, I encountered another problem that you can see in the other thread I began. Thanks for your help, really appreciate it!
