During gameplay of Cities Skylines and similar games, the experience is smooth for approximately 30 minutes. However, following this period, the visuals become stuck and unresponsive, preventing further play. Despite this issue, my computer continues to function normally, and the game remains active in the background – I confirmed this by using F1 to save quickly, closing the application entirely, and then relaunching it, confirming that my saved progress remained intact. I've attempted various solutions to resolve this problem without results, including reinstalling the games, updating all drivers, removing any potential malware, reducing my GPU and CPU overclock speeds to their default settings, and ensuring that all components remained cool despite the overclocking. A colleague suggested that the problem may stem from running my two graphics cards in SLI configuration. I'm currently at a loss for further troubleshooting steps beyond considering replacing my GPUs with a single, improved card. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hardware Specifications:
Motherboard – MSI x99A SLI Plus
CPU – i7-6900K
GPU – Nvidia GTX 1070 (SLI)
RAM – Corsair Dominator DDR4 3000 C15 4x8GB

Considering the game continues to operate, it suggests that only the graphics card is likely involved. Issues with the central processing unit, memory, or motherboard would typically cause a game crash instead.

I believe one of the graphics cards might be malfunctioning, and there’s also a chance that SLI configuration is causing problems.

For now, it's advisable to avoid using multiple graphics cards simultaneously. Their support has diminished significantly regardless.

I concur with that assessment. My intention was to buy a single 2080 Ti to swap out my 1070, but I was hoping to hold off until Nvidia released their new 3000 series. However, should my current card begin to malfunction, it could compel me to upgrade immediately. I would be able to resell the 2080 Ti and then upgrade again should the 3000 series offer a significant improvement.
